The all-new Ford 2025 Expedition delivers a complete redesign, seating for eight passengers and several enhancements to a robust bundle of safety tech.
It has also been upgraded with additional storage space, a largest-in-its-class 24-inch panoramic screen and hands-free driving technology.
An inventive flex powered console allows the center stack to slide back up to eight inches. The sliding action gives second-row occupants access to audio controls and climate settings. A secured storage area is also available for valuable items.
The rugged, off-road Tremor trim is introduced to the 2025 Expedition lineup. Its features include four-wheel drive, 33-inch all-terrain tires, 10.6-inch best-in-class ground clearance and undercarriage protection for the front axle, transfer case and fuel tank.
A drive mode system with Rock Crawl and Trail Control features enhance the vehicle’s stability in challenging terrain. Trail Turn Assist technology allows the Tremor to make tight turns on narrow trails and Trail-1 Pedal Driving allows the SUV to automatically slow down on steep slopes without using brakes.
All 2025 Expedition trims are outfitted with a new liftgate which converts the cargo space into a table with legs for an outdoor family meal. The tailgate also provides easy access to power outlets for charging mobile devices from the eating table.
“For Expedition customers, family is at the center of everything they do. said Trevor Scott, general manager of Ford. “We spent more than 1,000 hours talking with customers about their everyday lives.
“And with those insights, we’ve rethought and redesigned Expeditions to help customers make the most of their precious time with family and to make life easier—before, during, and after every trip they make.”
Under the Hood
Ford’s Active, King Ranch, and Platinum Expedition trims come with a standard 3.5-liter engine that generates 400 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. The all-new Tremor is also equipped with a 3.5-liter engine that delivers 440 hp and 510 Ib-ft of torque. This high-output powertrain option is available on Platinum trims.
Both engine options are paired with a smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission for quick acceleration and fuel economy.
The Expedition uses a state-of-the-art rear camera and corner radar to bring along a family trailer for outdoor excursions.
Pro Trailer Hitch Assist controls vehicle speed, steering, braking and stopping with the touch of a button. Pro Trailer Backup Assist allows the camera to track the trailer’s position when the driver shifts into reverse.
All trims have a maximum towing capacity of 7,000 pounds without a load-leveling bar which increases to 9,600 pounds with a weight-distributing hitch.
Comfort and Convenience
Engineers have enhanced the in-cabin experience of the 2025 Expedition by replacing the traditional cluster with a 24-inch widescreen display. The monitor is strategically positioned at the lower edge of the windshield to ensure an unobstructed view of the road ahead.
A Connectivity Package provides access to Google Play apps, Google Maps and Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity for 10 mobile devices within a range of 50 feet. Families can also enjoy streaming favorite movies, TV shows and games, including an exclusive Ford version of the racing game-- Asphalt Nitro 2. Car owners who opt for a one-time purchase get a complimentary one-year trial upon activation.
The Expedition’s new third-row seating configuration allows the SUV to convey lengthy items without compromising the comfort of passengers. A center section of the rear bench folds down separately, creating a long center aisle that extends from the split gate to the front center console to accommodate skis, trekking poles and fishing rods.
An Open-On Approach feature of the split gate grants hands-free access to the rear cargo area when a key fob is in a driver’s pocket. This is particularly helpful for people looking to unload gear when their hands are full.
A digital device holder mounted on the back of the first-row headrests provides a secure and easy access location for mobile devices This minimizes the need to always sift through bags or compartments to use smartphones and tablets.

- In-Lane Positioning: Shifts away from vehicles in adjacent lanes
- Highway Compatibility: Pre-maps highways safe to drive without driver intervention
